We have found this much easier to use and more cost-effective than Adobe PDF writers. Tungsten Power PDF has helped us tremendously in our work efficiency. This is the perfect solution for small to medium businesses who don't want to spend the annual fees for Adobe Acrobat Reader with the same functionality. It is easy to use. All of our staff was able to easily transition to Tungsten Power PDF with ease. The program is intuitive. We purchase our licenses from a third-party vendor for software. It is extremely easy for us to transfer a license to a new employee when one leaves.
  • Editing of PDFs
  • Creating forms
  • Completing contracts
  • Lining up the text you are inserting is sometimes tedious
  • I have not encountered any other issues myself with the software
It is well suited for all scenarios that you would use Adobe. It is especially useful and a terrific option for small to medium businesses who need the functionality of a PDF creator/editor/writer without having to spend the exuberant costs of Adobe Acrobat reader/writer/editor. It has saved us time and money. There is no learning curve in switching to it, our staff was able to switch seamlessly.

We use Power PDF Pro daily! We have been using this software since it was called Nuance PDF, then Kofax PDF, and now Tungsten. It works intuitively, always does what you expect, and offers versatility and security for working with PDF files. I have tried to use alternatives a few times to see what's available, but I always come running back!
  • Edit PDF file text.
  • Sign/append signatures to PDF files.
  • Converts file to/from PDF format.
  • Edits orientation of pages and order of pages within a PDF file.
  • In the PDF editor, it would be ideal to select your intended target areas a bit more easily.
  • When in PDF editor, font usage can be more consistent.
  • When converting files from PDF, more consistent output is better.
These days, the use of PDF files is much more critical than before. PDF files are more secure, can be easily compatible with multiple platforms, and provide a sense of consistency. For example, if you send an agreement in .doc format, someone may intentionally change the text that you may miss until years later. There is no such possibility as a PDF; this software provides this capability all day.

We use Tungsten Power PDF for all aspects of pdf documents, including converting to and from pdf, saving as pdf, and editing pdf documents. It allows us to seamlessly create pdfs and to convert pdf documents to word or other formats. It also allows for revisions and edits to pdf directly in the pdf documents, e-signatures, redactions, imposing security, etc.
  • Conversion to/from pdf
  • Editing pdfs
  • Saving as pdf
  • Redacting pdfs
  • importing official signatures into pdfs
  • putting security features on pdfs
  • layout of ribbon could be more user friendly
  • inputting signatures could be a little easier
  • text boxes are sometimes glitchy
There is almost no situation involving pdfs that Tungsten is NOT equipped to handle. Creating pdfs, editing pdfs, converting a document from a pdf to word (or some other format), inserting signatures, flattening files, inputting security features---these are all areas where Tungsten excels at seamlessly allowing a user to work with pdf documents.

I'm a small business VAR and I've worked with Power PDF since the Nuance days. I have tried other products along the way, both paid (Nitro, Adobe, etc) and free, both for myself and for clients, but I keep coming back to Power PDF due to its performance, and intuitive interface. I see the least amount of usage challenges from clients with the Power PDF product.

sometimes our graphic agency send us some pdf of promotional product or brochure or something like that, we have the need of edit these pdf files, to add some graphic, to modify text and to add or edit price. Tungsten Power PDF helps us to reach our goal without spending an high amount of money
  • reduce file size
  • edit pdf
  • does not modify the structure
• sharing options can be better
  • reduce file size
  • add bookmark
we use Tungsten Power PDF for a variety of scenarios. In most cases we use in our marketing team to edit various pdf files from our graphics department (and external company) to edit some wrong text, to add some price, to change some photos and very often to reduce file size because we need to upload in WhatsApp or website

Our company is not really "accounting", but there wasn't a proper designation for regulatory services or "other" to choose from. However, I deal mostly with accounting and IT interfacing with our MSP. Therefore, I am very often receiving invoices, sending invoices, printing addendums to files, etc. I love the Power PDF printer option. As I mentioned, often, the need is to add a pdf print of a file. If I use the Power PDF print option, I can slide the printed document into a current PDF as an addendum or as the front copy. This saves me tons of time. The other use that some of our team use Kofax to do, is open items that are secure - e.g., catalogs and other secured documents (not all, of course!). But, being in the regulatory field and needing to extract pages of information to be included in a 510(k) submission, this feature is very helpful.
  • The power PDF printer option allows adding a new document to an existing PDF file.
  • Opens some secure documents that Adobe isn't able to do.
  • Managing newly scanned documents efficiently from the physical scan hardware.
  • Editing text is well done, not that Adobe is bad, but I like how Kofax manages the process better than.
  • Flattening a file is simple.
  • Security features are easy to find and manage.
  • Highlighting seems to always use a dialogue box in conjunction, and that is not needed in every case. Therefore, I feel the option clutters the highlights more than it should.
  • Converting text to "readable" from a .jpg or some other format is a bit more complicated than Adobe's method.
If you manage or are constantly adding pages to a PDF, then I would suggest Kofax over Adobe or some other paid software. You will be amazed at how this can improve your workflow. Adding pages to an open PDF is very easy as well! Great merge and add features in this software. Also, I have to mention the power is pretty close to Adobe, but with less cost. Converting text to "readable" is a bit clumsy for me, and I usually turn to Adobe DC Pro to accomplish that task. Otherwise, I think it's a powerful PDF program and outshines Adobe.

I use it for legal documents as well as business forms for different industries and also help my attorneys when they need some limited scale OCR. I also do translations, so I use it for export translated documents. One of the best features is to print documents in PDF when the original is protected, and the same judicial branch asks a non-protected hard copy, so you can file a copy of a petition. I use the software to add comments and editing to help the review by other parties. Object editing is another area where the product helps to remove non-focus areas, so it remains only the focused ones.
  • Editing Text and Image
  • Adding images
  • Bookmarks management
  • Scanner integration
  • Pages Handling
  • Convert menu and its help are not easy to understand. Trial and error is the workaround.
  • Crop, a pretty simple feature, has a non-intuitive way to perform the crop action. It is not easy to figure out when a crop size applies or not to other pages.
  • Typewriter mode looks like the commentary feature or Text editing. I never used as I could not understand the benefits. Maybe a YouTube video would help.
  • Fill out electronically an existing hardcopy form. It is unclear whether the product does it.
1) Attorneys' pages handling, where there are hundreds of existing litigations documents and we need to select some pages and create new ones.
2) Filtering out sections of very long documents and create new ones only with the selected ones.
3) Apply images to documents even signatures and logos.
4) Office automation, especially manual forms evolving to electronic PDF forms.
5) Consolidation of several document types such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and many other non-MS Office into one single document.

PDFs are often used to share business documents such as contracts, reports, invoices, and presentations because they can be easily sent, received, and viewed on a variety of devices and operating systems without requiring additional software. The PDF forms can be filled out electronically, which saves time and reduces errors compared to paper forms, which is a must for my company. We use Kofax for PDF printing because of the high-quality printing to ensure that the document will look the same on all printers, regardless of the printer’s capabilities. This is extremely important when it comes to required Real Estate documents and lender documents. Having the ability to electronically fill out documents, saves time and reduces errors for our company.
  • Document Sharing
  • Electronic Signatures
  • Fillable Forms
  • Document Combining
  • Removing existing text from PDF
Excellent for converting PDF to Word, truly effortless. Does a wonderful job of reducing file sizes. I have been able to reduce files sizes by up to 80%, which is great if you are working within an e-mail system that has file size limits. Does an amazing job of inserting accurate bookmarks (automatically) when combining multiple documents. Easy to remove unwanted documents and replace with others, as well as rearrange PDF's. Absolutely love and has saved so much time in the workplace using the electronic signature features.

Kofax, a good PDF Option

We use this as a regular pdf tool, to view, edit, and e-sign pdfs.
  • Typewriter functionality is great, although can take some time to load. This allows you to fill in text wherever applicable without turning the rest of the pdf into editable text.
  • Fast load times
  • Has autogenerated text feature so anything in the pdf can become editable
  • Their e-signature functionality is lacking. One user had a photo of their e-signature which was put onto the document through an e-sign option. To rescale the image, there was a tiny box outline and the corner of the box to resize it would not recognize the mouse hovering over it. This caused a long process of trying to get it to resize the image instead of moving the entire photo. The box which registers the resize needs to be larger so this is not an issue, and one does not have to try to find the "sweet spot" for it to recognize.
PDF editing tools are quite competitive. Kofax does a great job making things easy to find with a good layout. It is also a one time payment which I think is an area that other pdf tools do not always offer an option for. This is a reason why kofax pdf should be a contender when comparing it to the other pdf tools. Their type writing tool is also great, when we needed to use it to fill in information on a specific line it was able to recognize where the line was and put the text entry right above it, some tools do not do a good job with this. It also provides an option to turn all text into editable text, keeping spacing/boxing text vs making everything text, which was a unique feature. It needs some usability/improvement with its e-signature portion. I think that will give it a much higher rating.

We use is exclusively for our PDF needs.
  • I really like the document assembly feature, makes reordering a document easy. Inserting and extracting pages is also very simple process. Kofax integrates very easily with the Microsoft suite.
  • A con would be when inserting pages, I would like it better if you could select a default selection for First or After etc. a check box to keep it consistent when working on repetitive tasks.

We use Kofax Power PDF to create our proposals, contracts, reports, and other business related documents. Many of our reports have text, pictures, and diagrams. Being able to make edits on the go is great. All of our employees use it daily and PDF's are sent regularly to our customers and vendors as well as receive PDF's from them.
  • Use friendly setup.
  • Having multiple PDF's open at one time.
  • Easily incorporating Microsoft Office.
  • It is a bit tricky to delete pages from the document.
  • The blue theme is nice, but it blends into Word documents.
Anywhere that PDF's are used regularly Kofax will be beneficial. When PDF's are created and edited, Kofax has been great to use as the primary software. If companies don't use PDF's often or use other file types Kofax may not be needed in that scenario. It is great to have whenever PDF's are being received.

Creation, editing and management of PDF documents and forms which ensures that the documents/files are platform and OS agnostic and will always appear as intended by the document creator. Redaction, flattening and password protection / encryption ensure that sensitive content, including visible signatures cannot be misappropriated or used fraudulently. Creation of versatile and dynamic electronic forms also supports efficient and economic operations.
  • The creation of PDF documents from any application which consistently maintain the appearance of the source. Conversion of documents, including scanned documents to OCR / Searchable documents. Conversion speed and accuracy of the output is outstanding. Robust editing and annotation features including commenting, call-outs, text boxes, adding watermarks, headers/footers, Bates numbering/stamping, highlighting, redactions and other document markup and editing.
  • Some menus are not intuitive. If you are migrating from Acrobat, there is quite an adjustment. Kofax Power PDF sometimes performs sub-optimally when converting PDF files to MS Office/365 files (Export Function). This is especially true if the PDF has tables or columns or other complex or atypical formatting. There are limitations in the ability to create custom, dynamic stamps.

I own a one person company and needed a pdf editor. To edit, make header, combine files etc. Kofax Power PDF does all of these.
  • Combine different pdf files into one Make header and/or footer with page numbering Edit pdf's (the text etc)
  • When combining pdf's with existing header it is difficult/impossible to keep this if the combined pdf has a different header (this is also issue with Adobe Acrobat). I have yet to encounter any other issues.

This is a product I had used at my previous organization. When I came to my current organization, they used a free online PDF product which worked ok but was very time consuming. I do a lot of combining of PDF's and changes to PDF's and Kofax Power PDF handles these items much smoother than the free online PDF program did
  • Adding Text Boxes
  • Password Protecting Files.
  • Making text changes to existing PDF's that were not even created in Kofax Power PDF.
  • No real guidance on usage. I think the program could do so much more than I am using it for, but I don't know what some of the options do, and don't have time to figure them out.
  • Some icons are not universal icons so you have to know what they do, or figure that out.
  • Sometimes converting PDF's to other MS Office programs doesn't go as expected.

I use Kofax to edit and combine PDFs. I often need to take multiple documents that have been Docusigned to combine into a large file for the client. I'm able to combine files, rearrange the order, delete unneeded pages, highlight sections for the client, redact information if needed, etc. It makes my job so much easier and faster.
  • Combining documents easily
  • redacting portions of documents
  • deleting/arranging order of pages, and altering the images in documents easily
  • Adding text fields
  • Searching the PDF forms
  • instruction/marketing on signatures, and expanding that capability. I use DocuSign now since I'm used to it, but I'd love to switch if it made sense
In my past role, I had to create and edit policy and documents for employees. Those policies and documents needed to be changed, added to, and deleted from often. Kofax enabled me to take PDF files and convert to word docs to edit, combine files, insert other PDFs, etc. It makes putting documents together so much easier.

Being able to convert a PDF to a word doc to edit has been so valuable since I've needed to make edits and changes. I'll receive PDFs from clients and they ask to make changes to them. Kofax helps me to do that quickly without needing to ask for the word doc version.

I also use DocuSign a lot and need to combine signed documents into one packet. Kofax helps with that.

I work with small batches of a variety of documents for different end uses, so I benefit most from using Kofax Power PDF for scanning, processing, converting to text, and optimizing for efficient storage and retrieval.
  • Multiple levels of utility make it versatile: Sometimes, a quick scan and save is all that's needed, and sometimes, it's necessary to dig deep into various options to get exactly the right output. Kofax Power PDF gives me choices.
  • The wide range of operations possible within this single program means not having to switch to Photoshop or some other app and then back to Kofax Power PDF.
  • User-friendly toolbars and menus with logical groupings made Kofax Power PDF easy to comprehend as a new user, and the Help guides are truly helpful.
  • I find that quickly editing text within a document or adding a line of text is clunky and can snowball into things popping out of place. I prefer to export text, and then work on it elsewhere.
  • Sometimes it seems that text recognition is trying too hard and throws me paper punches as "O"s and wrinkles as shapes, so I have to get rid of those artifacts.
  • The "Update Available" popup which is usually not an actual update announcement but rather an offer to sell me something is annoying.

We love Kofax Power PDF. It has been our go-to program for saving, printing, annotating and revising PDFs for many years. It is flexible and easy to use. I love the “typewriter” and “highlight” functions which allow me to communicate information beyond the text of the pdf with my staff and clients.
  • Assembling multiple PDFs into a single PDF
  • Focusing attention on important parts of a document using highlights, typing and note boxes
  • Converting PDFs to Word documents and spreadsheets
  • Better “help” functions
I am a solo attorney with several part time staff. Kofax Power PDF is easy to implement among staff, easy to teach and easy to learn. Highly recommended, It is affordable, especially compared with the Adobe products. It is versatile, and has functions useful to trial attorneys, such as Bates numbering, and headers and footers which include the ability to number pages.

Practically everything our law firm does requires online filing of legal documents via e-file. Kofax Power PDF makes this process straightforward and easy for us. We use Kofax Power PDF every single day to manage scans, convert Word docs to PDF, convert images to PDF for inclusion in filings, and to redact filings.
  • Rearranging/deleting/inserting pages in PDFs
  • Converting multiple files into one PDF
  • Annotating other PDFs or images
  • Redacting documents
  • Text box management
  • More encryption options
  • Better options for compressing filesizes on large PDFs
We routinely prepare lawsuit filings that will consist of a lead document, written in Word, and followed by exhibits, often many, many pages of exhibits. Kofax Power PDF makes it easy for us to go from drafting in Word, to converting the Word doc to PDF, to then dragging and dropping other PDFs, Word docs, or images directly into the target PDF and rearranging those pages. I think it is less suited, overall, to long-form annotation, due to the limited scope of text-editing fields.

  • Easy to edit text in PDF
  • I think the menu bar is at time not intuitive

Prior to founding my own law firm last year, I had practiced with many large to mid-size law firms and routinely used Adobe Acrobat for PDF needs. I opted instead to purchase Kofax Power PDF for use in my practice and have not regretted my decision at all. It works very well and I am able to use it for a variety of purposes and has easy functionality for editing, redaction, conversion of documents from other formats and most everything a solo practitioner needs in 2023.
  • Conversion of documents from Word
  • Customizing through editing text in PDF itself
  • Redaction
  • Ability to move objects from one page to another
  • Ease of changing from one tool to another
In my experience, Kofax Power PDF is very well suited for customizing and editing invoices or statements for services in connection with document and law firm management platforms such as Clio. It is very easy to edit text to personalize and customize the way your invoices to clients will look and how you describe categories of charges.

We use Kofax for the creation, editing, and management of pdf documents. It is the main PDF software for our company. We also use it for document security and redaction. On a day to day basis we use it for printing to pdf and rotating pdf documents that have been saved in the wrong orientation, highlighting text, adding comments to documents, combining and splitting pdfs. in fact we haven't got round to all the functionality it has.
  • converting microsoft files to pdf
  • adjusting file orientation
  • redaction
  • print to pdf
  • combining and splitting files
  • Speed sometimes its a little slow when a document is first loaded before you can select anything
  • make it even more user friendly to access new features using tips perhaps

  • Easy to move around, separating, deleting, adding.
  • 2 complaints only: 1. Unable to break through secured pdf. They need modifying however I can only print, scan, then modify. Which brings me to the second issue. I have to use your competitor PDFfiller, to Erase, add Text, Add Circles, Check marks, Images, lines etc. They are very user friendly unfortunately now I have to buy two softwares. One is on line, one is on my computer. Some how if you can add these wonderful features I would be extremly happy. Oh there is a 3rd Issue. I have three computers, Work, Desktop and laptop. I don't like having to purchase three single softwares. Come up with package deals.

We need to regularly check PDF layouts or proofread PDFs for our customers and were looking for a cheap alternative that offered features similar to Acrobat reader. Our clients did not complain about any issues so far.
  • - Easy file conversion of multiple formats to one or several PDFs via conversion tool - Easy editing/annotation of PDFs - Good and Easy redact/blacken out tool
  • - Language implementation: we get regular messages at startup that Austrian German locale has some issues, just because our PCs are based in Austria an run with Austrian settings but we installed German version. - some fonts appear black although they are not black but another colour overlay - settings (maximized window) do not correctly get saved
  • regex search would be fine
